Born and raised in Sydney, Jeff discovered his love for the visual and plastic arts in high school. He went on to study Interior Design at Randwick Technical College, under the umbrella of The National Art School. After graduating in 1974 he spent three and a half years as a graphic artist for Taronga Zoo, which was followed by three years training under Stephen Moor in his studio at Strathfield. Here he learnt all the techniques of stained glass including restoration and allied methods such as Applique (cold laminate) and Dalle de Verre, known here as 'concrete glass', since it was originally cast in a matrix of reinforced concrete. Stephen's technique was to cast the glass blocks in epoxy resin mixed with vermiculite. Moor was considered one of the foremost practitioners of his time, with stained glass commissions throughout Australia, and Jeff feels privileged to have had the opportunity of working under him. Jeff?s work has been exhibited Australia wide and has won various awards. His commissioned work can be found in churches all over New South Wales. Jeff considers the chapel window installed in St Catherine's School Waverley, 1987, to be one of his best pieces to date. Jeff opened his own practice ? Hamilton Design ? in 1982 and continues to run a successful business from his studio in Surry Hills.
