Shokufeh Kavani was born in Iran, 1970 and came to Sydney-Australia in 1997 but started painting when she was 19 in her homeland,Iran. Her profession is an operating-theatre nurse but she found great joy and comfort in painting and also to release the pain of being away from her home-land and also coping with the things which were happening all over the world and also affecting all of us like Septembre/11/.
Her work is feminine, abstract, modern, political and full of energy. She leaves all the judgement to people. Beside painting, she also has translated a book from english to persian , which it's name is " Whirling Dervishes " by Ira Friedlander which the translation already sold out in Iran. It's about Mevlana Rumi , one of persia's greatest sufis and poets and the sect after him, called " Mevlavieh ".
Shokufeh has also nominated for the "Australian of the year Awards" of 2005 and 2007 Award and also for the pride of the Australian Medal 2005 by Daily Telegraph Newspaper.
